Since being elected, I have strongly advocated for greater transparency in County decision-making, it was one of my initial motivations to run for council. I have introduced and supported many initiatives, including increasing circulation and notification areas for County land use decisions; reinstating newspaper advertising; and expanding and putting greater emphasis on public engagement opportunities to support major policy initiatives. I remain committed to further improvements and to ensuring that residents are kept informed on issues that affect them.
I support Administration completing the Service Delivery Model to ensure that the costs of County services are understood. This information allows Council to make optimal decisions and residents to understand exactly where their tax dollars are going. I am also eager to see the Asset Management Strategy fully implemented. This document is critical in making sure that county-owned assets remain viable today and into the future.
As demonstrated, I am solidly committed to personal transparency. Residents have a right to understand why their councillors make the decisions we do. I have always tried to explain the reasons for my decisions, so, even if you don’t agree, you can understand my rationale.
